Full Synopsis:
Mired in the intrigue and treachery of the court of Queen Elizabeth I, this historical drama tells the story of three sensitive souls. William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, and Emilia Bassano find love and attempt to forge an uncertain path through the darkness to carve out a lasting legacy together. The fragile peace of their polyamorous triad is upended when Kit is summoned to the Queen’s council and is offered a proposition: tutor the Lady Arbella and function as a spy for the Crown. The risks of this position are made even more fraught when Emilia reveals she is pregnant. Her patron at court, Lord Hundson, is the very man who is overseeing Kit’s work as a spy and is responsible for his identity remaining secret. Kit, Will, and Emilia navigate this as best as they can, but ultimately Emilia is forced to bargain with Lord Hundson: her freedom for Kit’s safety. When she leaves, Will and Kit struggle to find inspiration and passion without her.
The journey of these original “star-cross’d lovers” challenges our preconceived notions of authorship and the power in creating something beautiful with people you love.
