Full Synopsis:
During WWI, American artist Anna Coleman Ladd travels with her husband to France. Anna is deeply impacted by the men she meets as they recover in the hospital. She learns how to use her skill in sculpture to create facial masks for the men who sustain disfiguring facial injuries, despite the misgivings of her husband and the reluctance of the soldiers to trust her expertise. Anna’s personal relationships mirror the loss and recovery that many of the soldiers she helped felt as they were reintroduced to post-war life. The play explores the importance of healing all our wounds, seen and unseen.
